July 30, 2010 - PRLog -- The Pilgrimage to Cartago where thousands of Costa Ricans walk every year since 1781 to the Basilica of the Angels to bring in their petitions has its virtual version for two consecutive years.
In 2009 the Pilgrimage was called out by the Ministry of Public Health in view of the H1N1 pandemic.
In view of this situation, one local advertisement agency who had the challenge to keep alive a 227 year tradition decides to create a world free of the H1N1 pandemic.  The "Virtual Pilgrimage" is developed and launched within only 5 days: A webside where people could create their own virtual pilgrimages and walk to the Basilica keeping a tradition of 228 interrupted years.
The Virtual Pilgrimage was launched again this year going beyond all expectations. On July 28, 2010, shortly after 12:00 noon (only two and a half days after its launching), the virtual pilgrimage exceeded the 13,200 virtual pilgrimage recorded last years.
Other interesting data is that in this time frame, the Virtual Pilgrimate has recorded more pilgrimage in over 50 countries (verss 46 of last year) like the United States, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, United Kingdom, Senegal, China and Lebannon with a permanence time above 9 minutes versus 7 minutes and eight seconds of last year.
This web page produced by Jotabequ GREY www.jotabequ.com  was internationally recognized and obtained the Silver Lion award in the 57th International Publicity Festival in Cannes, France. The campaigned obtained an award in the PR Lions category, destined to recognized public relations campaigns, the prize was granted in the sub-category for Crisis Handling.
Other prizes received for this campaign was at the Publicity Festival in Antigua, the first prize was a Black Jade (equivalent to a gold) in he Category Better Campaig Public Benefit and the second was a White Jade (equivalent to a bronze) Hot Side categry.
The Virtual Pilgrimage presented by jotabequ GREY is online since Monday July 26th.  It can be accessed through  Facebook, Twitter or on the website www.romeriavirtual.com. It has some novelties and surprises that  will make it more interactive.  As an example, the pilgrimage will be able to see if they walk during the day, at night or under the rain.
Jotabequ GREY in conjonction with the Catholic Church present this type of pilgrimage, so that all believers who do not live in the country can participate in it, for those who because of health problems are not able to do the walking or simply for those who would like to live an interactive experience accompanying the pilgrimage.

Today, in 2010 it counts upon twenty thousand virtual pilgrimages. only a few hours after being initiated, in a country of only nearly four million persons.
