July 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Tarrytown, NY…Good health plans rank well in some areas. Great health plans excel in almost all areas. So it’s no surprise that a recent Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) survey of Medicaid plan members conducted by the New York State Department of Health shows that Hudson Health Plan significantly outperformed average state scores in seven of nine key measures. No other plan performed better.

“While patients value good medical care, they also want a health plan that respects them and serves them well,” notes Georganne Chapin, President & CEO of Hudson. “Our staff and our providers care about our members, and are committed to providing excellent service. This survey confirms that this is exactly what we do.”
   
New York State conducts a CAHPS® survey of Medicaid plan members every two years. In 2009, it surveyed 19 different plans. It asked 1,500 members of each plan to rate their experience with the care given by their doctors and the services provided by the plan. In seven key areas, Hudson outscored the state average, including:

Getting needed care (usually or always)
Getting care quickly (usually or always)
Customer service (usually or always)
Rating of personal doctor   
Rating of specialists seen most often
Rating of all health care
Rating of health plan                                                 

   In addition, Hudson members gave the plan the highest ratings in the state for both their children’s health plan and the health care their children receive.

Ms. Chapin notes that Hudson regularly gets high marks for quality of care in statewide HEDIS® and QARR reports, which track a plan’s performance on important preventive and chronic care measures. “Our staff and physicians strive hard, day after day, to provide access to excellent health care for our members,” she says. “We are truly gratified to see official recognition of the results of their hard work.”
