Former government scientist Ben Fairman, who returned to Cornwall to join the family business, is a director of both Peninsula Renewable Energy and RDE Electrical and says: “The Government’s recent introduction of its new Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) to pay households and businesses generating their own electricity has significantly boosted the nation’s already keen interest in utilising sustainable natural resources to generate power.
“In response to this growing customer demand, we have spent the last six months re-training in key renewable technologies and last month achieved official accreditation to the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) meaning we are now fully-qualified installers for Solar PV and Heat Pump systems. Solar PV installations are already eligible for the Government’s generation subsidies under the FIT programme, whilst Heat Pump systems will equally qualify under the proposed Renewable Heat Incentive starting in April next year.”
