July 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Missing Reel, the web series that provides a contextual history of grindhouse cinema, announces the launch of their web site(www.missingreel.tv), as well as the release of episode 2, "Black In The Saddle", a look at blaxploitation westerns.

Riding the critical success of the early release of the pilot episode, the team at Missing Reel, including Executive Producer Kurt Loyd and Head Writer/Producer David Walker, have been hard at work on establishing both a regular production schedule for the series and a web site that they hope will be a comprehensive repository for all things Grindhouse. The site was developed in a loose category style, allowing a team of writers to constantly update content ranging from actor and studio profiles to film review and engaging lists.

"We've taken our unique approach to the history of genre films and attempted to translate that into the written word.", says Kurt Loyd. "Our hope is that over a relatively short period of time both properties will feed interest in one another. We foresee the casual viewer subscribing to our site feed in order to sate an appetite for more information, as well as having the casual web surfer turned on to the fact that we have this very unique web series."

Missing Reel examines the era of grindhouse, or genre films, by selecting a specific sub-genre for each episode (the pilot featured 'rape revenge' films, including "I Spit On Your Grave"), and counting down three films from that genre, while the hosts enlighten viewers to the contextual history of these films, and their impact on culture and modern filmmakers. The production schedule is projected to provide three new episodes of the series per month, with content updates on the web site ongoing.

Distribution for the series is independently offered through Blip.tv, and episodes are available on iTunes. Clearances for Boxee, Roku and others are pending, and the team hopes to secure distribution for the series as soon as possible.
