July 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Brett Thompson of Jerome, Idaho is looking to keep his momentum rolling in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series as the series heads to Northern Idaho for the annual RMCS stop that is part of the big NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 this weekend. While Thompson is rolling in RMCS action this season, the race at Stateline Stadium Speedway in Post Falls, Idaho will be the veteran racer's first ever visit to the 1/4-mile facility.

Thompson has five top three finishes this season in the RMCS with his only blemish coming at RMR back in May where he finished 15th. The last time Thompson visited a track for the first time, he won; picking up his first career series victory on the 1/4-mile oval of Meridian (ID) Speedway back in June.

While both are quarter-mile ovals, the similarity may stop there.  "I am optimistic about our chances," Thompson said. "We have been pretty good all season and we just plan to do what we have been doing all year and hope it works as well at Stateline. We are really working on our qualifying package and we hope we hit it on Saturday night."

Thompson, a veteran of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series for the past decade, is only making a handful of starts in the West's oldest stock car series thus freeing up his schedule in order to compete closer to home. An while a nine hour drive to north Idaho is not exactly close, the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series has added some new found excitement in Thompson's racing career.

"This series is as tough as any out there," Thompson said. "In some ways it is tougher as you have to not only race hard and smart with the invert, you have to use a lot of tire strategy with the tire rules. I was not excited about some of the rules at first but I like it. The guys are some great racers and it is simply a lot of fun to go out and race and not really worry about hurting the car. There is a lot of respect and good hard competition."

While many of his fellow racers will compete in two or all three nights of racing at the Idaho 200, Thompson is solely focused on the RMCS Duel for the 200 Saturday night. "We have a family reunion on Sunday so I will need to get back home," Thompson said. "We are in a position for the championship with only four races left and since we only have one car we don't need to put ourselves in an difficult position."

"We are looking forward to the race at Stateline," Thompson continued.  "I have heard the fans are awesome and the track really puts on a good show. The race on Saturday will be a good one and I hope we come out on top."
