Montreal, Canada – ID Communications Inc. announces acquisition of worldwide distribution rights for “The Hidden Face of Suicide” a film which for the first time, breaks the silence of those who dealing with loss when loved ones commit suicide.
“Directed and produced by Yehudit Silverman the film takes a unique and dare I say inspiring approach to a taboo subject. Whereas most films dealing with suicide center either on the person or action where one takes one’s own life, Yehudit’s film turns the camera on those whose lives are forever impacted by the loss of a loved one” said ID’s principal, Dan Shannon.
“I was inspired to make this film because of the silence around suicide. When I was a teenager a number of my classmates committed suicide. One boy, a friend, shot himself, another boy, who drove me to school, hung himself . No one ever talked about it. And then when I was seventeen, I found out by accident that my uncle had committed suicide. I never knew. So again there was this silence, again no one would speak about it. I wanted to understand this silence and what was so terrifying or shameful about it that people couldn’t even say the word. People couldn’t even go there. So I think this film was really my journey in a way of going beneath the silence. ” says Ms Silverman.
“The Hidden Face of Suicide” explores some of the unspeakable aspects of suicide using a uniquely artistic approach . As a professor in creative therapy at Montreal’s Concordia University, Yehudit’s film makes use of masks and other dramatic art techniques -- by introducing creative expression to the experience of survivors, this allows people to deal with their pain in a whole new way” says Mr Shannon.

"The film has thus far been accepted in nearly half a dozen film festivals, including most recently the Montreal World Film Festival. This should help the film get access to educational television markets worldwide. We will also be putting in place a special offer to online communities where we have identified people from around the globe searching the web for information on how to deal with grief in such situations…we are confident the new digital marketing opportunities will help us spread the word about our film ” Said Mr. Shannon.
