July 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Marbella is a city that is considered the representative of tourist venues in the Mediterranean, although this is funny because it use to be a small village of fishermen and now it is one of the most cosmopolitan beach resorts on the Costa del Sol.

There is a real sense of tradition and modernism in this city it is enriched with culture leaving a cosmopolitan ambience from its inhabitants.  It is considered a playground for the rich and famous and is famed as an exclusive destination for people that come from Northern Europe, as well as those from other countries such as the UK and US.

As you would expect from one of the most sought after destinations in Europe, there are quite a few popular night spots in Marbella.  Bambinas is a very authentic Spanish nightclub located in the Old Town part of Marbella.  Also in Old Town is The Town house which is a popular bar with tourists and the locals. There are many more to check out but those two are the ones that people always go back to.

Speaking of the Old Town, this is an area where the traditional feeling comes alive.  It is partially surrounded by the ruins of Old Town and narrow whitewashed streets. Wouldn't you like to experience living here in one of the vintage Costa del Sol villas?

There are other examples that demonstrate the traditional sense that Old Town portrays.  The Ermita del Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz, a church that was built in the 15th century with its construction dating back to the 14th century or the Arabian walls or the town hall which was built on the square in 1568.  Within the Town Hall is the original Council Chambers which are now divided into two floors.

Marbella is a good place for sports enthusiasts; it hosts a WTA tennis tournament on a red clay court called the Andalucía Tennis Experience, which is an international tournament on the WTA Tour.  Marbella is home to some great golf courses, some of the best in Europe.  Every year hundreds of golfers head for the Costa del Sol and enjoy some summer and winter golfing.

When it comes to beaches there is only one place to mention and that is Puerto Banús this is a beach that is considered a sandbox for the rich and famous.  It is so glamorous compared to the 24 other beaches in Marbella, which are nothing to laugh at since most of them have been awarded blue flag beach awards.   The Puerto Banús beach has a jetty which is good as it means that the beach will be preserved longer than most other beaches in the area, also means that water is controlled.

Marbella is a city that has come on in leaps and bounds. It isn't just for the rich and famous and anyone looking at the old town you can still see it is still proud of its humble beginnings.
