July 29, 2010 - PRLog -- With Costa del Sol being on the southern coast, there is plenty of sea life out there that you can easily see by the right ways.  One activity that is always popular with tourists is the dolphin safari.  This is a boat expedition that leaves from various ports or beaches.  Some companies are so sure that you see a dolphin that they guarantee your money back, which goes to show that if they are that confident you are going to see something.

Types of dolphins that you might see are Common Dolphins. These can be seen in most areas if the world, hence the name. There are two types of the Common Dolphin, one is the long beaked and the short beaked. The bottlenose dolphin is the most popular dolphin thanks mainly to its iconic look, and performances in aquarium shows like Sea world, and in many films.  These dolphins look similar to common dolphins but has elongated upper and lower jaws.  Dolphins usually eat fish that are smaller than them, although it does vary depending on the location.  The Tuna and Mackerel family, Drum and Croasker families and the Mullet family most particularly.

Dolphins aren't the only things you will see; you can see whales on the same or on dedicated tours.  Here you could see Tooth whales, Baleen whales, Sperm whales and Orca whales.  So if you had your head set on seeing dolphins this may make you change your mind although it will be a hard choice but if you’ve got time you can go to both.

Baleen (blue) whales are the largest animals on the planet, feeding only on tiny krill in huge quantity.  This creature can grow up to 120ft long and can weigh up to a whooping 190 tons, in comparison a Boeing B-747 airline weighs 150 tons!

Then there is the toothed whale are similar to dolphins in fact dolphins are a part of the species and are generally smaller than most baleen Whales.  They are hunter type of mammal; they find, chase and then capture their fish.

In Marbella, they hold Dolphin watching excursions which has been operated since the early 90's.  The Dolphin Bay plays host to numerous species of marine life and is considered a nature lover's paradise, and is a great place to stay seeing as the city has some extremely nice villas.  Dolphin Bay is like a natural nursery for dolphins as many young dolphins can be seen during the summer months.  This bay usually has common and striped dolphins whilst Bottlenose dolphins are seen less often, as do Pilot whales and Orcas.
