Raleigh, N.C., July 27, 2010 – Ragsdale Liggett PLLC has announced that Carrie Barbee, an associate attorney in the firm’s litigation department, has been named to the Board of Directors at Meals on Wheels of Wake County.  

“Meals on Wheels will benefit from Carrie’s enthusiasm and expertise on the Board of Directors.  We look forward to her help in meeting the agency’s mission now, and into the future,“ says Alan Winstead, Executive Director, Meals on Wheels of Wake County.

Since 1974 Meals on Wheels has been providing nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and persons with disabilities in Wake County, serving close to 1,500 meals daily.
“I am honored to be named to the board,” said Barbee, “I look forward to taking on a leadership role within this group and helping to expand this worthy cause in Wake County.”

Meals on Wheels has been serving Wake County’s elderly and disabled since 1974.  Meals are delivered Monday – Friday through a cadre of 2,200 volunteers. In an effort to improve health, reduce isolation, and prevent unnecessary institutionalization, Meals on Wheels provides the frailest of our community’s citizens with a voice to achieve healthful independence.    

About Carrie Barbee:
Barbee is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Wake County Bar Association, where she serves as Public Service Chair.  Carrie was name to Law & Politics Magazine’s 2009 & 2010 “SuperLawyers” Rising Stars list which recognizes the top up and coming attorneys in the state of North Carolina (See http://www.superlawyers.com/about/selection_process.html for selection information).  She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2004.  She is on the Board of Directors for the Frankie Lemmon School & Development Center, a school for children ages three to six with developmental disabilities.  She is a member of the Junior League of Raleigh, and has served as chair of the Literary Luncheon, chair of the Carolina Color Gallery fundraiser, and is currently working on a leadership education and development program for league members.
