Have you ever wondered, “Can I do that?” Well, now you can find answers, advice, tips, and strategies for business and life in O'Neill’s book, "Bitten by the Business Bug."
This book is the complete opposite of the philosophies that we have seen in corporate America, on Wall Street, and in government over the past few years. "Bitten by the Business Bug" is a practical approach to life and business with straightforward tips for kids and adults alike.
Life does not have to be brain surgery or rocket science. It does not have to be complicated. Sometimes it just means getting back to the basics, using common sense, and taking one step at a time regardless of age. O'Neill shares his values, creativity, strategies, and advice through short personal stories. Readers are sure to recognize and relate to many similar experiences.
Success is not guaranteed. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone; nor is working for the monthly paycheck. The only guarantee is, “Doing nothing will guarantee nothing.” (Tip # 4 from the book) “If you at least try your ideas, you might surprise yourself,” O'Neill says. “I did.”
O'Neill started his business, Pencil Bugs, at the age of nine. His mom was painting some crafts to sell. O'Neill suggested he help her paint them and figured she would split the money with him. To his surprise, she turned down his offer but suggested he come up with his own product to sell at the craft fair.
Soon his colorful, bug-like, handcrafted pencil toppers were born. He has continued to add other products to his line using the Pencil Bugs characters.
O'Neill speaks at schools, libraries, business, and events and encourages others to try their ideas. He donates a portion of his proceeds to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California.
