Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck Holds Its Annual BBQ and Duck Race on September 12

The 42nd Annual Family Style Duck Bar-B-Que will feature delicious food, hayrides, bouncy rides, clowns, raffles and music.

July 23, 2010 - PRLog -- (Center Moriches, New York) — September 12 promises to be a fun-filled day at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck as the camp hosts the Annual Family Style Duck Bar-B-Que and Duck Race, sponsored by the Rotary Club of The Moriches.  Gates open at noon.

The 42nd Annual Family Style Duck Bar-B-Que will feature delicious food, hayrides, bouncy rides, clowns, raffles and music.  Tickets are $30.00 for a duck dinner, $25.00 for a chicken dinner; both prices include admission fee.  (Tickets sold at the gate are $35.00.)  General admission is $10.00 for adults.  Children under 12 can get in for $5.00, which includes a hot dog and soda.  Dinner will be served from 2-5 p.m.

At 3 p.m., the 7th Annual Kaler’s Pond Duck Race for the large ducks will begin.  Ducks can be adopted by purchasing a ticket for $100.00 each.  Only 350 tickets for this event will be sold.  First prize is $10,000.00 (if at least 250 tickets are sold).  Second prize is $3,000.00. Third prize is $2,000.00 (if all 350 tickets are sold).  The rest of the proceeds will go to help the handicapped children at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck.

The 14th Annual Duck Race for small ducks starts at 4 p.m.  The cost is $10.00 to sponsor a small duck.  There will only be 2,500 ducks available.  Half of the proceeds will go to benefit the handicapped children of Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, and the other 50% will be awarded to the top three winners.

Tickets can be purchased from the camp or the Moriches Rotary.  They can be bought before or the day of the event.  Credit cards are accepted.

About Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck
Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck was created by members of the Moriches Rotary Club in 1946. Located on the shores of Kaler's Pond on eastern Long Island, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is funded entirely by donations and is a special place where children with physical and developmental disabilities can experience first hand the pleasures that an active life has to offer. Children participate in a wide range of activities especially designed for youngsters who are in wheelchairs as well as those who are ambulatory. These activities include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, petting zoo, talent shows, cook-outs, games and a Carnival Day. The program also provides educational activities in areas such as nature, arts, fire safety and communication skills.
