July 27, 2010 - PRLog -- (ORANGE COUNTY, CA)- Coastline Community College, in Southern California, was named as one of the nation’s top Military Friendly School for 2011 by G.I. Jobs magazine. According to the G.I. Jobs website, the list is determined through research that is verified by a panel of five higher education administrators and includes only institutions that offer the best educational benefits to students who are taking classes while serving in the U.S. Military.

Coastline has won the “Military Friendly School” designation for the past four years, and was also recently honored by the Council of College and Military Educators as a top institution that supplies quality educational programs to the armed services.  G.I. Jobs noted that Coastline “should be the active duty service member’s first choice when choosing a college.”

The award recognizes Coastline for serving military students at an exemplary level, providing short-term, flexible programs through distance learning course delivery with programs like the Navy College Program Afloat (NCPACE), PocketEd PDA Program, Military Spouse Program, and $50 textbook program. Coastline courses are the choice of more than 13,000 service men and women each year. Those students continually provide positive feedback about their experience with Coastline staff and faculty, including the dedicated department that serves their needs often from half a world away.

“Most of our students have never even set foot on the actual Coastline campus,” explained Joycelyn Groot, Dean of Military Programs. “They are often completing assignments and classes while in the most adverse landscapes and conditions, and our staff members understand that. It’s this dedication that drives our department and the reason Coastline will continue to be recognized as a military friendly school for years to come,” she continued.

If you are a member of the military or know someone who would like more information on Coastline’s program for active-duty servicemen and women, visit http://military.coastline.edu or call (866) 422-2645.
