BOCA RATON, July 23, 2010/Boca Grove Plantation- Boca Grove Golf and Tennis Club is tackling the issue of younger children and sports head on by being one of the first Florida clubs to adopt the QuickStart tennis format. QuickStart tennis regulates play for younger children by using smaller nets set up alternatively on full sized courts, using lower compression or foam balls, smaller racquets and simple scoring, all regulated by the United States Tennis Association. Scaling down the sport provides more than an energy outlet for the under eight crowd; it actually helps build self esteem, promotes new learning and creates lifelong players.
According to the USTA, tennis is America’s fastest growing sport. With a format like QuickStart, even younger children can participate on a more competitive level earlier than most other team sports, which often require expensive and excessive equipment, schedule inflexibility and a required number of players. The Boca Grove tennis staff adamantly believes that this new program will give youth tennis the opportunity to thrive even more in South Florida, assuring continuity for an active lifestyle, even into adulthood. “Youth growth is the key to the future survival of clubs that have ageing members at both private and recreational type facilities,"
