The Metro DC Utilities Blog is intended to be a unique source of information and analysis for those who are working to build and maintain public infrastructure in the area: roads, bridges, water pipes, sewer pipes, gas lines, transit, and more. The blog will explore financing challenges, maintenance backlogs, demographic changes, political initiatives, and other topics -- all with a local twist -- that interest professionals in the field.
"The recent water main break in Boston and bridge collapse in Minneapolis are reminders that well-maintained and reliable infrastructure is an indispensable part of the quality of our lives," said Stuart Freudberg, environmental program director for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. "We're launching this blog to provide a forum to explore the infrastructure trends and issues we face in the DC area."
