Tim Curtis and his volunteers canvassed the communities in District 11 and noticed that Curtis for Congress yard signs was missing.
On Saturday, July 10, a private citizen spotted a green pickup truck with Kathy Castor bumper stickers and signs in the back of the truck. The men in the pickup removed several Curtis signs from private property of neighbors without permission. (Tim Curtis is running for Democratic nominee for Congressional District 11 against Kathy Castor.)
The signs were legally placed because the Curtis Campaign has asked and received permission to place the signs. Following Hillsborough County ordinance, the Curtis Campaign does not place any signs in right of ways or without permission.
On July 16 a small business owner of Marilyn Steel called the Tim Curtis Campaign to inform them that someone in a vehicle came by and removed Curtis for Congress signs from their business. The people who removed the signs claimed that they were from code enforcement. There were no markings on the vehicle or proof provided that they were, in fact, from code enforcement or from Hillsborough County government.
There have been approximately thirty signs taken to date from private property.
