For practical test

How it helps in driving practical test or hazard perception test:

The learner drivers must have knowledge of the highway code. In theory test and hazard test highway code helps learner drivers in passing the test in first attempt. It will also help them in practical test when they will be tested on their driving skills.

The highway code contains information about the various road signs. We also come to know about the stopping distance, how to make a turn on the road and speed limit which is very important for a learner driver.

What are road markings:

A Road marking plays a very significant role as a road signs and provides us information about the roads on which we are traveling and what type of action we should take.

The fundamental principle of road marking is to direct and control traffic on a highway. They add the function of traffic signs. They play a very important role in ensuring the safety, smoothness and harmonious flow of traffic. There are different types of road markings like transverse markings, longitudinal markings, object markings and special markings to alert the driver about the hazardous place on the road which you will face soon etc.

White Lines

They are commonly on the road surface and tells you somewhat regarding the road that you are traveling on. Lines that travel along the road (longitudinal) notify and advise drivers of approaching situations that will require them to do something - like turn right, or do not cross.

There are broken white line marks the middle of the road, double white lines where the line nearest to you is broken indicates that you may cross the line to overtake, providing that it is safe, A double white line where the line nearest to you is solid indicates that you should not cross the line unless and until it is safe and white lines that cross the end of the road with different meanings and often depend on the road.

Yellow Lines

There are various types of yellow lines marked on the road or on the edge of the path which indicates waiting restrictions.

They are generally seen when there is a need to control parking to help keep traffic flowing and consistent, and to avoid people being blocked by other vehicles on public highways. There are double yellow lines and single yellow lines too with different indications.

Red Lines

It is being seen very rarely as compared to other colors, red lines ban all stopping, parking and loading. Double red lines apply at all times and single red lines apply commonly during the working day.

Implementation of the highway code rules is must as it significantly reduces road accident casualties and also help in reducing the death rate and injuries which take places on the roads everyday.
