The State of Saxony, a prime location in Europe for microelectronics, IT, automotive and photovoltaics, has received recognition for its innovation and technological development. The region, nicknamed “Silicon Saxony” to highlight its similarities to the Silicon Valley, is one of Germany’s most industrialized and home to multiple universities and over 50 R&D institutions. As a result, more and more global players and many small and medium-sized enterprises have chosen to establish a location in the area. “The future is in Saxony. We offer excellent academic and economic perspectives, especially for young and creative minds,” Lt. Governor Morlok told scientists, students, and guests at a reception hosted by Stanford University, inviting them to visit the State of Saxony. The following evening Lt. Governor Morlok welcomed more than 180 guests, including SEMICON West/Intersolar attendees as well as local business contacts, at the Saxony Evening Reception in Downtown San Francisco.
