By: lisa@candybearlane.com At Gigi’s, the owners have done all of the legwork for you. They have shopped for unique items, refreshed and renewed them for you and added their own creative flair by painting, sewing and presenting them to you in their cozy new shop located just west of Belmont Road between Fannie May & The Sara Lee Bakery Outlet. Owners Gloria Boucher, nicknamed “Gigi” by her family as a nod to her great grandmother status, and her daughter Marcia Boucher Zaremba, fulfilled a longtime dream to have a shop of their own when they opened Gigi’s Shabby Chic last week. Gloria’s grandmother owned an antique shop when she was a young girl and she always had a secret passion to run a shop of her own one day. After this creative mother-daughter duo helped to create the decorative charm of the downtown Downers Grove candy shop Candy Bear Lane (which is owned by Boucher’s daughter Lisa Boucher Koma) last summer, they decided to use their talents to create a shop of their own. Both longtime residents of Downers Grove, they have always enjoyed shopping for bargains, finding just the right thing and making the extraordinary out of the ordinary. Now they have done all of the work for you. Whether you’re looking for unique furniture or the perfect finishing touch, you’ll find it at the right price at Gigi’s Shabby Chic! Now open, Tuesdays-Saturdays 9:30am – 5:00pm, Sundays 10:00am-2:00pm. The official Grand Opening will be Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 9:30am-5:00pm. (630) 964-4661.
