Toyota Dealer Serving Peoria Shoppers Announces June Sales Results

July 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Toyota reported June sales of 123,272 units, an increase of 7.4 percent over the same period last year, the top Toyota dealer serving Peoria Toyota customers, Fort's Toyota of Pekin, announced.

Through the first six months of the year, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., which includes both the Toyota and Lexus brands, reported 846,542 units in sales, a 9.9 percent increase over figures from last year on an unadjusted raw volume basis.

"Toyota performed well during the first half of the year, despite a difficult economic environment," said Jim Lentz, president and chief operating officer of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.  "Although the entire automotive industry struggled in June as weakening consumer confidence weighed on sales, Toyota maintains its leadership position as the number one retail brand in the industry year-to-date."

Light trucks played a large role in the strong month with 49,461 units sold in June, an increase of 25.9 percent compared to June 2009.  The RAV4 compact SUV led the way in the segment with 12,573 units sold for a 25.1 percent increase, while the all-new Sienna minivan also enjoyed considerable success this month with sales of 9,357, up 71.9 percent over June 2009.

While Toyota passenger car sales were down 2.2 percent from last June, Camry and Camry Hybrid each posted a strong month with combined June sales of 28,435 units, an increase of 7.7 percent.  Sales for the Avalon sedan were 32.8 percent higher than last June with 2,833 units sold.
