"The Smallest Island" Is A New Grown-Up Mermaid (Non-) Fairy Tale.

If Stephenie Meyer is planning on writing a mermaid novel, she had better hurry up.

July 20, 2010 - PRLog -- A new novel brings mermaids into a realm all their own, casting a light on the classic creatures that we haven't seen them in ever before.
Charlotte Marriott's new novel, "The Smallest Island" is not a fairy tale.  It is, rather, the ultimate coming of age story of a girl named Grace Gallo, who has done everything by the books until,  right after her high school graduation, Grace's life takes an unexpected turn that is totally out of her control.
When she wakes up on the mysteriously beautiful Ridley Island and is greeted by a family of ageless, immortal mermaids who also drifted in from the human world at varying points in history and places in the world, Grace experiences with them all the things she avoided in high school by having been a "well-behaved girl".
Ultimately, Grace must decide whether to hide away for eternity with the mermaids of Ridley Island, or go back to the human world and risk their exposure.
"The Smallest Island" fearlessly delves into issues we must all face at one point or another, such as a haunting past, sexuality, and how a single choice can change everything.
