July 20, 2010 - PRLog -- July 20, 2010 Seattle, WA. – Built Green, Energy Star and Building America are proud to welcome Martha Rose Construction of Shoreline, WA. as a participant in their third-party certification systems for energy efficient, healthy, green homes.

Martha Rose has made a conscious effort to go beyond the Energy Star standards for incorporating green building practices into their home building. To be considered ENERGY STAR, a home must meet guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2007 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20–30% more efficient than standard homes.

The four new homes, at Fish Singer Place, designed by CB Anderson and built by Martha Rose Construction are projected to be 55% more efficient than standard built new homes.
Built Green is an environmental building program of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties and other government agencies in Washington State that focus on six environmentally friendly categories set standards of excellence in the construction of the home. The finished homes in Shoreline Washington have been certified 5-Star Built Green the highest rating for the Built Green program. Projects are qualified using a Built Green checklist organized into six categories of environmentally friendly action items. Upon completion, the builder sends a signed copy of the checklist along with a third party verification identifying the homes features. To receive the rigorous 5-Star certification a home must score at least 500 points, the new homes at Fish Singer Place all scored 757 points

The Building America program is under the U.S. Department of Energy. Its Builders Challenge program has posed a challenge to the homebuilding industry - to build 220,000 high performance homes by 2012. Homes that qualify for the Builders Challenge must achieve a 70 or better on the EnergySmart Home Scale (E-Scale), meaning that they will use at least 30% less energy than a typical new home built to code.

The homes at Fish Singer Place scored a 45 making them 55% more efficient than a code home. “Building high performance homes makes Martha Rose Construction part of the solution when it comes to our world’s energy challenges.

Working with the Building America Team ensures that we accomplish this goal with clarity and efficiency” mentions Martha Rose.
