July 19, 2010 - PRLog -- OCEANSIDE, CA  - July 11, 2010 - Mission San Luis Rey, the National Historic Landmark owned and operated by the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Saint Barbara and provider of community programs, retreats and ministries, last week formerly announced Father David Gaa, OFM would join the Mission as it’s new Executive Director.

“It is important that the fundamental sentiment of the Mission is one of being a spiritual oasis. These are Holy Grounds not just a Catholic Church. I have a great respect for the historical aspect of Mission San Luis Rey but we must be a spiritual sanctuary for people of all faiths,” explained the new Executive Director, Father David Gaa, OFM.

Father David Gaa, OFM will be responsible for operations and programs of Mission San Luis Rey and management of the Mission’s long-term strategic plan. Prior to joining Mission San Luis Rey, Father David spent 7 years in Kazakhstan, part of the old Soviet Union. His ministry in the town of Taldykorgan, was preceded by his 6 year service at Mission San Xavier del Bac in Tucson, Arizona. His experience in Tucson included raising funds for a major restoration and the construction of a school that served the local population with a focus on preserving their Native American traditions.

Father David Gaa, OFM will be introduced to the community through the many upcoming events at Mission San Luis Rey; the 27th Annual Heritage Ball, Dia de los Muertos 2010 and Christmas at the Mission 2010.
