New Technical Standards Now Available From NFPA

Four new technical documents have recently been published and are now available from the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA).

PRLog - Jul. 19, 2010 - Four new technical documents have recently been published and are now available from the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA).

ISO 5597:2010 (supersedes ISO 5597:1987): Hydraulic fluid power -- Cylinders -- Dimensions and tolerances for housings for single-acting piston and rod seals in reciprocating applications [second edition]
Scope:
This International Standard establishes the preferred range of nominal dimensions and associated tolerances for a series of hydraulic cylinder rod and piston seal housings for reciprocating applications in the following range of dimensions:

- cylinders from 16 mm to 500 mm;
- rods from 6 mm to 360 mm.

An additional range of seal housings is detailed in this International Standard to meet the reduced envelope requirements of the 16 MPa (160 bar) compact series of ISO 6020-2; these smaller section seals require stricter piston rod and cylinder bore tolerances.  The range of dimensions is as follows:

a) cylinders from 25 mm to 200 mm;
b) rods from 12 mm to 140 mm.

This International Standard does not give details of seal design, since the manner of construction of seals varies with each manufacturer. The design and material of the seal and any incorporated anti-extrusion component are determined by conditions such as temperature and pressure.

ISO 12151-1:2010 (supersedes ISO 12151-1:1999):  Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use -- Hose fittings -- Part 1: Hose fittings with ISO 8434-3 O-ring face seal ends
Scope:
This part of ISO 12151 specifies the general and dimensional requirements for the design and performance of hose fittings with O-ring face seal ends in accordance with ISO 8434-3, made of carbon steel, for nominal hose inside diameters of 6,3 mm to 38 mm, inclusive, in accordance with ISO 4397.

These hose fittings (see Figure 1 for a typical example) are for use in hydraulic fluid power systems with hose that meets the requirements of the respective hose standards and in general applications with suitable hose.
NFPA list price:  $103.00
NFPA member price:  $82.00

ISO 12151-3:2010 (supersedes ISO 12151-3:1999):  Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use -- Hose fittings -- Part 3: Hose fittings with ISO 6162-1 or ISO 6162-2 flange ends
Scope:
This part of ISO 12151 specifies the general and dimensional requirements for the design and performance of flange hose fittings, made of carbon steel, for nominal hose inside diameters of 12,5 mm to 51 mm inclusive, in accordance with ISO 4397, for use with ports and clamps in accordance with ISO 6162-1 and ISO 6162-2.
NFPA list price:  $88.00
NFPA member price:  $69.00

ISO 27407:2010:  Hydraulic fluid power – Marking of performance characteristics on hydraulic filters
Scope:
This International Standard specifies a means of marking filters to communicate filter performance characteristics of interest to users.  This marking can be used with either the standards referenced in this International Standard or with any standard that has been harmonized with any referenced standard.  This International Standard applies to the marking of information only on the filter; the customer can request that the same information be specified on the product drawing or as part of the product packaging.
NFPA list price:  $88.00
NFPA member price:  $69.00
