July 19, 2010 - PRLog -- (Bridgewater, NJ) In his debut comic work Two Italian Guys, Bridgewater New Jersey resident Chris Yura pays homage to the grand history, grisly mob culture, and great foods that are Italian-America.  A striking hardcover with a full-color interior, the first book in the Two Italian Guys comic series is presented in a unique format that combines a long-running graphic novel with a selection of comic shorts. Yura draws on his family’s own past to weave a rich narrative that says goodbye to the old country and casts off for the land of opportunity. Transitioning into Depression-era America, the main tale of Two Italian Guys follows two first generation brothers who think they deserve more than dead end jobs and, if they ignore their father’s advice, may have found the answer. Raised in a culture that worships homemade meals and quality cuisine, Yura’s nod to those who share his intolerance of bad food is evident in the short stories starring the cantankerous TV chef Lou Peppino. Lou and his crew of anthropomorphic veggies star in comedic interludes, presenting opinionated commentary as well as delicious Italian recipes from Lou’s own kitchen (Yes- Real recipes are even included!).  Striking a perfect balance between humor and hitmen, Two Italian Guys is sure to please.

Yura is not only the creator and cartoonist but also the publisher of Two Italian Guys, having founded his own small press publishing company, Mangia Industry, in the spring of last year.  After working for several years in the publishing industry, Yura viewed the volatile economic climate as the perfect time to venture out on his own, noting that, “People always tell you that being an artist is unstable career choice, but so is every job in this economy, so you might as well do what you love!”  So far, Yura’s advice has rewarded him well.  Recently released in May, Two Italian Guys is already generating a buzz and was one of only seven independent comic titles mentioned in the Ain’t It Cool News Wizard World Philly Report. Yura was also recently selected to participate in Artist Alley at 2010 New York Comic Con, the largest pop culture event on the East coast. His attention-grabbing booth, which looks just like an Italian Market, is a topic of conversation at every convention he attends!

Two Italian Guys (38 full-color pages, hardcover, retail price $12.95) is available at Amazon.com and www.MangiaIndustry.com.  For additional information, including Yura’s comic convention tour schedule, full-page previews, and more, visit www.MangiaIndustry.com.
