July 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Tulsa, Oklahoma - July 15, 2010 - The recently launched Tulsa-based business, Pulse Card LLC, selected LIFE Senior Services as their first monthly donation recipient. Ten percent of Pulse Card sales for the month of July will benefit LIFE Senior Services and their programs.

Pulse Card officially launched their business in June and is spreading the word about prescription drug safety. “We did our homework and learned the incidence of fatal drug interactions is far too common. If it happens to a celebrity, like Brittany Murphy or Heath Ledger, it makes headlines. But, when it happens to someone across the street you may never know,” says Darla Snyder.

“According to CDC findings, prescription drugs are beginning to outpace the number of deaths caused by car crashes in several states. Senior citizens take the majority of prescription medications, often times in excess of a dozen and see multiple doctors. This greatly inflates the risk of dangerous drug interactions. So, we are reaching out to educate patients, beginning with the senior community and have chosen LIFE Senior Services to be our July donation recipient,” she continues.

Husband and wife team, Richard and Darla Snyder, worked tirelessly for months breathing life into what was once a dream. The idea for Pulse Card came about through Pam Crookham, Darla’s mother. Crookham fabricated a simple card for herself and her late husband to take on an Amazon Jungle expedition in 2005.

The Crookhams both had medical conditions ranging from heart disease to lupus and an extensive list of prescription medications. Relaying such information would have been paramount in saving their lives, in the event something went wrong on their journey through Peru. The card she created listed their medical history and prescriptions, along with their doctors’ contact information. They felt protected carrying this card, for it offered far more information than a standard ID or even medic alert jewelry could.

Since 2005, Crookham still carries the medical ID card and uses it every time she visits the doctor, hospital, or pharmacy. She receives excited responses from almost everyone she hands the card to. Nurses often exclaim “I wish everyone had one of these! It sure makes my job a lot easier!”

The family soon began realizing the potential in this little card. “We originally set out to create a tool for helping emergency personnel get accident victims the best care as quick as possible,” remarked Richard. He continues, “The deeper we got into it, we realized the simplicity of the card makes it ideal for everyday use, at the doctor’s office or pharmacy. Not only does it help the patient, but it helps the professionals to do their jobs more efficiently.”

Pulse Card aims to save lives through education and prevention. The Snyders are available to speak to groups about prescription drug safety. To learn more, visit their website www.pulse-card.com
