The first tip would be to properly explain how the person found themselves in this financial difficulty.  While the government is less likely to give to a person who found themselves in this position because of frivolous spending, there are several scenarios where a person will more likely be approved for relief.  Some of the situations that are viewed more favorably are if the person lost a job, was given an adjusting and unaffordable mortgage payment, or experienced unforeseen medical bills.  When writing the letter, be sure to specify your reason and link how this led to your negative financial situation.

The next tip in writing a letter is to explain how the grant will be used to help with the financial situation.  This section will need to outline what bills will be repaid with the received funds.  If a person is looking to get a federally backed mortgage payment reduction, the person will need to provide documentation ensuring that they will be able to comfortably afford the reduced mortgage payment.
