FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 14, 2010 - Put A Veteran To Work
The Veterans Job Creation Program will provide jobs for former homeless veterans,  veterans with disabilities and unemployed veterans who will deliver flyers and doorhangers and for numerous companies.

The Madison Street Veterans Association will provide veterans needing employment. Initially the shelter be able to provide a team of 6-8 veterans, able to home deliver flyers to homes in various areas all over Maricopa County. The program has begun in Arizona and is being developed in Southern California

It would be a regular schedule 3-5 days a week for 6-8 hours at a time. It could grow to many teams of 6-8 veterans doing work for many companies. In addition, there are also telemarketing opportunities that could be developed for internal jobs for veterans, especially for veterans with disabilities who are unable to deliver doorhangers.

Compensation would be per hour, plus a meal and new sneakers and developing into health insurance benefits. The idea would be to put money in many veterans hands. We would find a way to provide a meaningful rewarding job to as many veterans with disabilities, former homeless veterans and unemployed veterans. We are working to find a sponsor to donate a van and/or a box truck, which would allow a Veterans Moving Service to also generate work for veterans.

We are seeking the commitment from numerous major companies (pizza, real estate, solar, car dealer, contractor) that would entail delivery to the most of the homeowners in Maricopa County putting hundreds of veterans to work.

One of the flyers would be for the Homeless Veterans Clothing Drive and the delivering veterans would be able to pick up clothing and furniture donations. Many homeowners may be willing to
allow the veterans to do some odd jobs for the homeowners which may include trash removal, landscaping, handyman work, etc.

Distribution could easily be outsourced, or use US Mail or even day laborers, but as a proud United States Navy submarine veteran, this project is dedicated to provide jobs to veterans.

One Solar company needs Solar installers and would be willing to provide FREE job training at the Shelter to veterans leading to jobs. Other companies could do job training for electrical, plumbing, carpentry and all leading to jobs with various companies.

The program will have no government funding and be supported by corporate support and individual donations.

We want to create this into a national program bringing jobs for veterans.
