The National White Dove Release Society (NWDRS) is planning a reprise of last year's nationwide memorial and White Dove Release in memory of all those who paid the ultimate price in the 9/11 attacks in 2001. There are various Memorial Ceremonies being held around the United States, Canada and Great Britain on Saturday, September 11, 2010 that will culminate in the humane release of white "doves". These "doves" are actually highly trained white homing pigeons who will return to their home loft upon release. Information regarding the locations of these memorials throughout the participating countriescan be found by consulting the web site www.whitewingsoveramerica.com .
All of the white "doves" across the nation will be released at 12:00 Noon EDT. Local time zones must be consulted to find the time in your particular state/location. Releases taking place in Australia and New Zealand will actually take place some hours ahead of those in the United States, Great Britain and Canada due to the International Date Line.
There are several thousand white doves now pledged to participate in these ceremonies and memorials throughout the world. Additions to the list are being made on a daily basis. Participation in this event is still possible by visiting the web site and making a pledge of your birds. You do not have to be a professional dove release company to participate in this memorial release. If you fly white birds and wish to participate, please check into the web site and make your pledge.
Again, that web site is www.whitewingsoveramerica.com .
