Skyraider Aviation has doubled the size of its rental fleet at Denver's Centennial Airport. With the addition of the new Gobosh 700GX Light Sport Aircraft, Skyraider Aviation now offers its customers the choice of airplanes equipped with standard analog gauges, or an exceptionally capable "glass panel".
The Garmin G3X system installed in Skyraider Aviation's new addition is the most technologically advanced avionics package available for Light Sport Aircraft. It has features previously found only in Garmin’s high-end G1000 system. With its primary flight display (PFD)/multifunction display (MFD) configuration, the pilot gets attitude and directional guidance with electronic engine monitoring and detailed moving-map capabilities in two neat 7-inch high-definition screens. The integrated synthetic vision technology provides a 3-D “virtual reality” perspective of what lies ahead. The system pulls together information from the built-in aviation basemap and terrain elevation database, letting the pilot clearly visualize terrain features, obstacles, waterways and airport locations. By utilizing an advanced Air Data and Attitude/Heading Reference System (ADAHRS), the G3X does away with bulky and failure-prone gyroscopic instruments. Instead it leverages solid-state sensors and sophisticated attitude determination and integrity monitoring algorithms to provide highly accurate and reliable aircraft position, rate, vector and acceleration information. The system is topped off with XM satellite weather, XM satellite audio entertainment, a complete AOPA airport directory, and detailed airport diagrams.
Skyraider Aviation, established in 2006 at the Erie Municipal Airport north of Denver is the first flight school in Colorado to offer training specifically for the revolutionary new Sport Pilot license. Created in September 2004, the Sport Pilot license is meant to make the dream of flight accessible to the masses. By reducing the training requirements and adding some restrictions, the Sport Pilot program makes it possible to earn a pilots license in as few as 20 flight hours and for as little as $3,500. An additional benefit of the Sport Pilot license is that it does not require an FAA medical exam, opening the door to pilots who could otherwise be medically disqualified from flying. The many advantages of the Sport Pilot/Light Sport Aircraft program, have made it the fastest growing segment of general aviation.
