Assistance League® of Raleigh Announces New Board Members

Local Nonprofit Chapter Presents Awards, Recognizes New Leadership at Annual Meeting

July 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC: Triangle nonprofit Assistance League® of Raleigh held their annual meeting on June 24th at the Capital City Club in downtown Raleigh. To begin the meeting, which functioned both as an annual meeting and a kickoff event, President Brenda Griffin recapped notable highlights from the previous year, including the chapter’s official induction into the ranks of Assistance League® and the success of their flagship fundraiser, Festival of Trees® of Raleigh.

The high point of the meeting came with the announcement of Assistance League of Raleigh’s new board members, listed as follows:

Janice Lipson, VP Resource Development
Joy Moore, Secretary
Virginia King, Treasurer
Dorothy Lipson, Education Chairman
Jan Sheppard, Public Relations Chairman

Griffin then proceeded to present awards on behalf of Assistance League® of Raleigh. Lorana Price, CEO of Holy Cow Branding, received the Advisory Council Award, awarded in recognition of an advisory council member who has given her time and talents to furthering the mission of Assistance League of Raleigh in the community by “Putting Caring and Commitment in Action.”

Mary Amundsen received the board’s “Atta Girl” Award for giving more than 800 hours of service to expanding the organization’s fundraisers and taking the Festival of Trees® of Raleigh to a new level.

Debra Geer received the Community Volunteer Award, and Zack and Jordan Gerber each received Youth Community Volunteer Awards.

Others recognized at the meeting were supporting organizations the Verrouchi-Scheick Family Foundation and the Carolina Hurricanes, as well as Stough Elementary School, with whom Assistance League® of Raleigh partners in their H.O.P.E for Kids program that provides mentoring and tutoring to at-risk youth.
