LA Business Owner Selected as Top 10 Finalist For Entrepreneur Magazine 2010 Emerging Entrepreneur

July 13, 2010 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES – One of the next generation of Los Angeles County cleantech innovators has been named a top 10 finalist of the Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2010 Emerging Entrepreneur award. Enovative Group Chief Executive Officer Derek Zobrist has confidence that his green multifamily and hospitality hot water distribution system will take the award when public voting opens in just a few weeks.

“I am excited about my nomination as Emerging Entrepreneur of 2010 and look forward to the beginning of the public voting period,” Zobrist said. “It is great to be part of the rapidly growing cleantech industry in Los Angeles County.”

Zobrist serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Enovative Kontrol Systems a distributor of a high-tech multi-family and hospitality hot water distribution system. By creating relationships with the Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, Southern California Gas Company, and Heschong Mahone Group, he has been able to commercially demonstrate the power of the technology and deliver it to the marketplace.

“It has been great working with all the different partners to bring this product to the marketplace,” he said. “Our D’MAND CIRC® product will be not only great for the environment but will also save property owners substantial money.”

The D’MAND CIRC product is a green demand based hot water circulation pump that easily retrofits into existing multi-family and hospitality buildings. The innovative technology reduces gas usage by an average of 10-30 percent and improves water systems by delivering hot water only on demand. Using only California’s residential market segment as an example, the technology could save close to $1 billion per year, every year.

Enovative was a 2008 Cleantech Open Finalist, a 2009 Runner-Up for the AC-NET Cleantech Competition for the City of Anaheim and is a current Semi-Finalist for the 2010 Cleantech Open.

Zobrist has been working closely with property owners such as Marriott Corporation, the City of Anaheim and Archstone to deploy the system and save money. Through his leadership, he has filled out the leadership team of Enovative Kontrol Systems and raised funds to bring the product to market.

“It has been an exciting journey to bring this product to market,” Zobrist said. “I hope I can help inspire other entrepreneurs to take advantage of business opportunities.”

He helps inspire other leaders in the next generation of the cleantech industry by serving as key presenter at the 2009 & 2010 Hot Water Forum and functioning as a member of the Green Workforce Development panel during the 2009 Sacramento Cleantech Showcase.

Zobrist grew up in Southern California and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He now resides in Venice, Calif.
