Jerusalemhotels.com, a site devoted to travel arrangements and specializing in accommodations, announced a redesign of the site that focuses on selection. The focus has had the added effect of streamlining in the site itself, reflecting a minimalism in design that's becoming increasingly popular among web users.
"There's no doubt that we're pleased about every aspect of the changes," the site's CEO said yesterday, immediately following a press conference. "I've always considered myself more of an expert on travel than web design, and when our designers showed us the preliminary mock-ups, it was stunning. The design just popped, and had a shine that we could all recognize right away. We went with it, of course."
Slimness in design is part of a trend among travel sites in particular, and more design around the world wide web reflects this new taste. As browsers become more attuned to adjusting to a new site's interface fairly quickly, this opens up doors for new design possibilities. The next wave of site designs, such as this one, reflect those possibilities.
"I did think that design was once something for the experts to appreciate, but I think now we're seeing that most anyone recognizes an excellent design when they see one," the CEO said.
