July 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Blodnick, Fazio & Associates, P.C. has released a series of guidebooks offering information on different legal situations. These guidebooks target business owners and business partners, doctors, general practitioners and those currently engaged in legal action.

“What To Do Before You Start A Lawsuit” goes through the procedure of initiating a lawsuit and helps you determine whether the suit is viable and what the impact would be on yourself and your business. The guidebook also helps you learn how to choose the right attorney and how you intend to pay him.

For those on the other end of a lawsuit, “What To Do If You Are Sued” shows those named as defendants what to do when you are served with papers. It is important to know if you are the party named in the lawsuit and not someone else with the same name or has the same company name. The guidebook describes whether or not you should hire a lawyer, depending on the actions taken by the plaintiff. To better prepare yourself, it is best to keep notes as to how, when and where you were served.

“Before You Open Your Doors” asks prospective business owners what type of business they wish to start up, where will you get the money to start your business, and where will you operate the business. Once that is put in place, it is recommended that you hire an attorney to file the paperwork describing the business, what type of entity it will be and whether it will be a sole ownership or partnership.

As in a marriage, sometimes business partnerships do not work out. “Business Divorce” takes into account certain issues that business partners must address if one of them wants out or if they want to dissolve the business altogether. The guidebook provides a checklist to determine if every effort was made to save the partnership, what happens if one or both leave the business, if the departing partner can be bought out and whether they can agree on a way to dissolve the business.

“What A Doctor Should Know About Licensing and Other Legal Issues Or: When Is A Doctor Not a Doctor?” addresses the issues of what defines a doctor and whether a general practitioner can perform certain surgeries. The guidebook also takes a look at licensing issues that the firm believes is not adequately explained by the New York State courts.

(Please note that the information provided in the guidebooks does not constitute as legal advice.)
