PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 13, 2010 -
GOVgreen Conference and Exposition announces Dr. Dorothy Robyn, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installation and Environment as scheduled to be a keynote speaker during its conference taking place this November 9-10 in Washington, DC.

Dr. Robyn provides management and oversight of military installations worldwide and manages environmental, safety and occupational health programs for DOD.  DOD’s installations cover 29 million acres, with 539,000 buildings and structures valued at more than $700 billion.  Dr. Robyn’s responsibilities include energy programs, environmental management and restoration of closing bases, pollution prevention, conservation and environmental research and technology.  Meeting the mandates set forth by President Obama’s Executive Order 13514 will be integral to the programs Dr. Robyn oversees.

The GOVgreen Conference and Exposition is the first ALL Government, ALL Green event to focus exclusively on providing real-world solutions for all government professionals charged with implementing EO 13514.    Located in Washington, DC to provide easy access for the widest range of government professionals, GOVgreen’s programming—free to credentialed government and military professionals-- focuses on energy, transportation, conservation, facilities and workforce management.

The GOVgreen Conference and Exposition is an unparalleled opportunity to showcase your solar products and services to the government buyers searching for green solutions for their facilities and agencies.  Education will focus on the key areas addressed by the Executive Order:  energy, transportation, conservation and facilities.

For companies that produce solar products and services, the Executive Order creates unparalleled opportunity.  The federal government spent more than $24.5 billion on electricity and fuel in 2008 alone.  Under the Executive Order, the required reductions in fossil fuel-based energy are significant:

-Increase renewable energy sources by at least 5% of total energy in fiscal years 2010-2012 and 7.5% by  fiscal year 2013 and thereafter
-Produce 30% of hot water in new federal buildings (and major renovations) through solar equipment
-Reduce fossil fuel use in Federal buildings by: 55% by 2010, 65% by 2015, 80% by 2020, 100% by 2030

GOVgreen Conference and Exposition is FREE to credentialed government and military professionals. It is sponsored by the Center for Environmental Innovation and Leadership (www.CEILeadership.org), an independent organization facilitating information and education exchange among government and military professionals responsible for green programs and vendors, contractors and consultants that provide green goods and services.
