By: Patrick W. Murphy Mohamed Bouzaiene, the new Sunrise Aviation representative in Tunisia, has wanted to be a pilot since he was 7 years old. His father had a friend who flew a Gulfstream in the Middle East. Mohamed was able to talk to his father’s friend about the career of a professional pilot and even was able to see the G-IV when it visited Tunis. He caught the aviation “bug” at an early age and continues to let it influence his career choices. Mohamed came to the USA when he was 19 to receive his commercial pilot training. He selected Florida for the excellent flying weather and array of airports and flight schools available for flight training. Mohamed completed his commercial pilot training in Central Florida and did his flight instructor training in South Florida. Mohamed came to Sunrise Aviation in Ormond Beach, Florida to continue building his flight hours before he returned to Tunisia. Mohamed is now 22 years old and lives in Tunis when he is not in Florida adding flight hours to his logbook. He is also working on a college degree in Math and Physics in Tunisia. There are four airlines in Tunisia and most are hiring pilots at this time. Mohamed’ Sunrise Aviation has been in continuous operation since 1983 at the Ormond Beach Municipal Airport in Ormond Beach, Florida. Sunrise Aviation is an FAA approved flight school and has authorization to accept students from foreign countries into their flight training programs. Currently, students from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Jordan, India, France, The Bahamas, Spain, Mongolia, Brazil, Colombia, in addition to the USA and Tunisia, attend commercial pilot training at Sunrise Aviation. Sunrise Aviation has 42 aircraft including the largest fleet of Cessna 152s in Florida. Recent additions to the Sunrise Aviation fleet include two types of glass cockpit aircraft: Cirrus SR-20 and Cessna 172.
