July 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Twice Deceived blends history and drama to tell a tale of art, intrigue, and lies set to the backdrop of Paris in the 1920’s.

In 1906 Pablo Picasso painted the portrait of Gertrude Stein, the renowned American author. Enamored by the beauty of the work that she commissioned a prominent Russian copyist to duplicate the painting so as to have her portrait with her at all times. After the author’s death, the original painting is gifted to the Metropolitan Museum in New York. However, when examined by experts, it seems that it was quite possibly the copy they received. A team of specialists hunts down the ‘original’ in a village in central France and brings it and the copy to Picasso for final approval. But the artist declares that both are duplicates. It is revealed that Stein in fact commissioned a single replica of her portrait… and the original has vanished. The team is sent on a journey across Europe, encountering members of Stein’s inner-circle ranging from Alice B. Toklas in Paris to Diego Rivera in Mexico City. How they finally come to find the painting is the secret of the double deception. As Gertrude might have said, ‘It is a story with an ending…an ending…an ending…”
