Luke Manley discusses Gary Cross’s Novel on Modern Immaturity on Talking About Men’s Health blog

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 12, 2010 -
Washington, D.C. (July 12, 2010) – Blogger Luke Manley’s most recent post at Talking About Men’s Health, The Eroding (Ok, Eroded) Masculinity of the American Male, reviews and critiques Gary Cross’s newest novel, Men to Boys: The Making of Modern Immaturity. In this novel, Cross dissects the current notion of masculinity and asserts that both the common and current connotations of masculinity are shaped – negatively – by the mainstream media.

In his post, Manley parallels Cross’s assertions by providing both statistics and popular sitcom characters to justify his concurrences with the author.  Manley provides his readers with a small window into Cross’s main arguments, specifically how the current male archetype has deviated from the “tough Western cowboy, the dutiful soldier, or the heroic fireman” and has emerged as an “awkward, whiny characters stuck in a perpetual state of immaturity.”  He goes on to share how the behaviors portrayed in the movies are constantly reflected in real life and there are statistics to prove it.

Manley’s newest contribution to Talking About Men’s Health is a reflection on how not all men agree with the decline of the masculine male and are willing to constructively critique the factors that implement such decline.
