Tampa Business Helps Train Workers in Gulf Spill Clean-Up Efforts

SafetyOnlineNetwork.com offers web-based course in disaster clean-up

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 12, 2010 -
The Gulf Oil Spill has affected countless numbers of Gulf state residents and has motivated some to personally get involved with the clean-up efforts. SafetyOnlineNetwork.com, an Occupational Safety and Health Administration training company based in Tampa, is offering Web-based HAZWOPER courses in disaster clean-up to help train these future workers.

“This spill has really hit home for those of us living on the Gulf of Mexico,” said Dave Argy, owner of SafetyOnlineNetwork.com. “We offer an easy way for people to get involved in restoration efforts almost immediately.”

The course also provides an opportunity for many people in the area to go back to work.  A large number of companies have been awarded contracts to clean up and monitor efforts in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.  These companies need qualified workers, and in most cases, the hiring company requires potential new workers to have the OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training course offered by SafetyOnlineNetwork.com.

The 40-hour course in disaster clean-up has been reviewed and accepted by OSHA. Students can log-on to the Safety Online Network website and instantly begin their coursework without having to wait for a scheduled class. Additionally, by offering the course online, Safety Online Network allows students to work at their own pace and review the materials as much as they like.

Safety Online Network’s courses are available 24/7 from any computer connected to the Internet. And for those people who want to help with the Gulf Spill clean-up but are not tech savvy, the courses were specifically designed to be easy to use for people unfamiliar with computers.

Since students receive a certificate of completion immediately after finishing the course their efforts can be used in the real world right away.

“My hope is that by offering a quick and simple way to get people trained, we can help eliminate any lasting environmental effects from this spill,” Argy said.
