Optimal IdM Launches An Enhanced People Picker For SharePoint 2010

The Optimal People Picker is an alternative to the default People Picker shipped with Microsoft SharePoint. Optimal IdM’s product provides additional features and functionality allowing administrators to easily enforce additional security, while delivering end users a powerful and configurable search interface.

The Optimal People Picker has an easy-to-use interface with features such as sorting and paging that reduces end user frustration and can save time searching for users or groups. It allows searches to be performed against any attribute on a user or role/group and searches may be executed across multiple attributes at the same time. In addition, search templates can be defined to meet the specific needs of an organization and search results can be filtered based on its context. For example, searches can be filtered based on who is performing the search as well as on the type of search being performed.

Using the Optimal People Picker, administrators can apply role-based security filters to restrict what end users can search on and view, keeping data separated and secure. Security is further enhanced by giving administrators the ability to restrict the assignment of SharePoint permissions to groups, disallowing permissions being assigned to individual users.
