UK Car Insurance – London Emerges as UK's Motor Fine 'Capital'

July 12, 2010 - PRLog -- UK car insurance providers Esure revealed that drivers in the north-east of the country are likely to pay an average of £352 for motoring offences, while those in the south-east pay even less on average - £303.

An interesting comparison between male and female drivers showed that women pay an average of £210 a year for motoring fines, while men clock up an average of £344 fines in a lifetime.

Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at Esure car insurance, said: "Owning and running a car in the UK can be very costly, particularly with rising fuel costs, and avoidable charges for driving offences only make this more expensive."

There are many motorists that continue to show a blatant disregard for crimes they consider petty, such as using a mobile phone at the wheel.

Mr Pickard added: "Offences such as speeding and using a mobile phone while driving not only add points to a motorist’s driving licence but are deemed offences for a reason. They are actions that put drivers and other road users at risk."
