Don’t park in the same spot during the first 6-12 months as your asphalt paving is curing. 2. Do not turn your steering wheel back and forth when your car is not in motion. This will leave visible marks on your new blacktop. 3. Avoid use of jack stands or car ramps. 4. Excessive weight from large, heavy vehicles can make depressions in your asphalt, so keep any heavy trucks (like oil or concrete) off your new driveway. 5. Place plywood under the tongue jack and tires when storing campers or trailers for an extended period of time. 6. Beware of bicycle and motorcycle kick-stands or pointed high-heeled shoes. They exert weight on concentrated areas and will create holes in your new asphalt. 7. Avoid driving along the edges of your new driveway as they are the weakest part and may crumble. 8. Gasoline, oil, anti-freeze, power steering and transmission fluid spills should be avoided. 9. It is normal for your driveway to look smoother in some areas than in others due to the different mixtures of stone, sand and liquid asphalt. 10. To preserve your new asphalt paving, it is advisable to seal coat it after it has been paved. Do not seal too soon or it could cause damage. The best time to seal is 3-12 months after it has been paved and then every 2-3 years there after.
