A charity auction and reception in support of student scholarships offers people the chance to bid for signed sports memorabilia, tickets for professional sporting events, and gift certificates from area businesses and restaurants.
The events are in support of The 11th Annual Mark Brezler Memorial Golf Classic. Proceeds from the auction and the golf tournament will benefit the Mark Brezler Scholarship Fund at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. The combined events have raised nearly $50,000 over the past decade in support of scholarships at the University.
The VIP Reception and Charity Auction will occur 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 29 at Molly Branningan’s, which is located at Second & Walnut Streets in Harrisburg. The first 100 individuals to RSVP receive free admission to the auction and reception as well as complimentary hors d'oeuvres.
The items up for grabs at the auction including signed sports memorabilia from: Joe Paterno, Willie Mays, Deacon Jones, Tony Romo, LeSean McCoy, Marques Colston, Todd Heap, Lamar Woodley, Lawrence Timmons, Gale Sayers, Ki-jana Carter, Blair Thomas, Troy Drayton, Donovan McNabb, Matt Cooke, Brent Johnson, Riley Cote, Jeremy Maclin, Clay Matthews, and A.J. Hawk. Additionally, there are Penn State and Pitt Football tickets, as well as tickets to the Hershey Bears, and Cleveland Indians games. There are tickets to various concerts including O.A.R, Ke$ha & Rihanna, passes to Hershey Park and gift certificates to local Harrisburg restaurants, golf courses, salons, spas, various businesses and many more items.
The VIP Reception and Charity Auction are sponsored by Harrisburg Young Professionals, Molly Branningan’s and Harrisburg University.
It all leads up to the 11h Annual Mark Brezler Memorial Golf Classic, which will be held on Friday, July 30 at the Sportsman’s Golf Course in Harrisburg.
“The players and sponsors that have teamed up with us understand the importance of education and have been very generous in their support of the event over the last 10 years. The event has allowed us to touch the lives of many young adults and children and we look forward to seeing it continue to grow in the years to come,” says Chris Brezler, who co-organizes the event.
The tournament will feature a shotgun start and play begins immediately following registration. The format is a four-person scramble and there will be two flights: a championship flight and a novice flight There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, straightest drive, top placing team(s) in each division and door prizes.
Registration is $280 per team or $70 for individual players and includes range balls, lunch and dinner, beverages, door prizes, and food throughout the day. Registration begins at noon and ends at 1 p.m, with tee off immediately afterwards.
