July 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Independent Digital Media company, Super Atomic TV, has tapped the talents of award-winning producer Kurt Loyd, and noted exploitation film author and expert David Walker, to write, produce and host Missing Reel (http://www.superatomictv.com/missingreel), a program focused on the history and legacy of grindhouse films. Currently in search of broader distribution, Missing Reel is immediately available as a pre-release pilot, with future episodes to be released weekly beginning in late July, 2010.

Kurt Loyd, producer of the critically acclaimed Super Atomic TV, developed Missing Reel to be a weekly series that focused each episode on a particular genre of grindhouse film, and then countdown three iconic movies from that genre, while focusing on the stories behind the movies. Recruiting author and pop-culture critic David Walker (BadAzz Mofos Guide to Blaxploitation) to write the scripts and co-host, both men have created what some are calling the most unique approach to grindhouse films ever taken.

“It's really Grindhouse 101”, says Loyd, Founder of Super Atomic TV. “With the current wave of gore and hardcore action films competing on the web and in theaters, the time was more than right for an examination of where these films come from.” The Missing Reel pilot episode examines 'rape revenge' films, such as “I Spit On Your Grave”, with future episodes looking at 'blaxploitation westerns', 'girl gangs', and 'kung-fu masters'.

Missing Reel utilizes both filmed host segments, and the amazing visuals provided by the trailers from these forgotten classics. The pace is rapid, but complete, with episodes clocking in between 10 and 13 minutes. The scripts offer a brief review of each film's plot, but focus more on the contextual history of the genres, and an expanded profile of the filmmakers, actors and studios responsible for the wave of genre films that extends from the mid 1960's through the mid 1980's.

Sneak preview audiences have called Missing Reel the perfect entry point for people who know nothing about genre films, and a welcome set of 'DVD extras' for true fans of grindhouse cinema. Initial distribution is being provided through blip.tv, with the focus of the efforts on branded distribution through a major digital media distributor. Currently, more information on Missing Reel comes through the shows web site, Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/missingreeltv), and Twitter accounts (@MissingReelTV).
