Follow on Google News | MD Political Candidates and Citizens Gather To Embrace “New Vision Of Democracy” At GalaThe GrassRoots Steering Foundation, Inc. and the 2010 Vote The Power! Campaign announces its MD Campaign 2010 Black and White Summer Gala.
By: GrassRoots Steering Foundation, Inc. The gala brings together Maryland candidates running for local, state and federal political office and Maryland citizens from all walks of life. Candidates representing various political parties hold one on one discussions with other attendees about issues that matter most to the citizenry. Candidates are also given the opportunity to speak about their campaign platforms to the larger audience. This event is a non-partisan affair. This year’s theme “A New Vision of Democracy” is the non-partisan message carried to the communities of Maryland through the Vote the Power! Campaign. It speaks directly to the emerging sense of frustration that Maryland citizens have experienced witnessing the current state of affairs in Maryland and in the nation. The gala is a unique opportunity to encourage civic engagement, and collective participation by community members to work in conjuction with elected officials to improve local communities and the quality of life. This approach of making candidates accessible to citizens offers a chance to address the often overlooked economic, educational, and social problems that impacts the average citizen. Special guest for the evening is Mr. Charles Robinson, Regional Director of The National Association of Black Journalists and Journalist for television show “State Circle” which airs on Maryland Public Television. Speakers will include MD candidates currently running for local, state and federal political office in Maryland. Ticket price is $37.00 per person which includes: social hour, buffet dinner, dessert, music and entertainment. Registration ends August 6, 2010.
