The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation is the world's leading nonprofit health organization dedicated to supporting patients and families living with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), (PNH), and related diseases.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 09, 2010 -
Aplastic Anemia & MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndromes, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria, PNH) International Foundation has teamed up with Eve Haim's NASCAR CHALLENGE: Racing Against MDS and Leukemia and ed ideas, inc. to raise awareness for MDS and other bone marrow failure diseases.

The idea started when  Eve Haim was diagnosed with MDS and her family looked for answers.

Eve Haim, has always placed others in front of herself.   As a loving mother, grandmother and caregiver to teacher's children she has helped many people grow to become great people.  From leading the landmarks preservation society in Sea Cliff to her countless other volunteer positions within the village, she has never said no and she has never asked for help.

She, and many like her, are in need.  Only a few months ago she was diagnosed with MDS, a rare bone marrow disorder.   Perfectly healthy and strong as ever we were soon to learn what we were up against.  Frequent Dr. visits, shots, chemicals, transfusions and bone aspirations attempted to keep the disease in check and begin to reduce its progress.   Unfortunately, initial drugs have not worked.

The GREAT news, is that through the generous giving through the national bone marrow registry we have found a match and she is now eligible for a transplant.  However dangerous, this is the only cure for her condition which has now progressed to AML (Leukemia).

There is SO MUCH that can be done to help in the fight against this disease and stop its unregulated progression but we need your help.  AWARENESS is key, and our first step is this event.

To raise awareness the Aplastic Anemia & MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndromes, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria, PNH) International Foundation (http://www.aamds.org)  along with friends and family of Eve Haim will be sponsoring http://www.chasemattioli.com in his ARCA race at Pocono Raceway July 31, 2010.

Donations to help can be sent to http://www.firstgiving.com/NASCAR and are GREATLY NEEDED.
