Commanding, untamed, and with a kinetic live show to level all comers, Austin’s Adrian & The Sickness are tuning up the van and stringing the guitars as they prepare to hit the road on their Summer 2010 tour. The tour will kick off with two special hometown shows, with Sister 7 at Antone’s on July 17, and at the legendary Continental Club on July 27. Complete itinerary is below.
In further Adrian & The Sickness news, the band has begun pre-production on their fifth album and Kathy Valentine, bassist for the Go-Go’s, is on tap to produce once again. Adrian’s endearing melodies as well as her scalding six-string caught the attention of fellow Austin resident Kathy Valentine who produced the band’s fourth CD , B.F.D. Kathy’s attention to sonic detail and eye for the architecture of pop composition resulted in an album that combines the rock fury and dazzling guitar of Angus’ best, with the approachability and energy of early Go-Go’s-style pop-punk. This new, fifth album from Adrian & The Sickness is yet untitled, release date TBA. “I’m excited to produce Adrian’s next record and see where this process takes us this time around,” says Producer Kathy Valentine. “We’re thrilled to be working with Kathy again. She’s a great producer and mentor, and she has such a talent for capturing the energy of our band,” says Adrian Conner. “K-Val kicks ass.”
Adrian and the Sickness, with Heather Webb on bass and AJ Mancabelli on drums, is an undeniable front of infectious pop concoction wrapped around electric, bombastic rock and roll; sweet melody and sheer sonic power wowing live audiences since their debut in February 2004. Guitarist Adrian Conner also plays in Hell’s Belles, an AC/DC tribute band so fearsome that Angus Young himself is a devoted fan. She’s a deft soloist and a sure hand with a stinging riff, and she’s demonstrated her talents in front of demanding AC/DC fans all over the world. But she’s also a formidable pop-rock songwriter, penning honest, forthright songs spiked with catchy, irresistible hooks. Her music has been called “exciting, rambunctious and kinda scary” by Guitar Player Magazine.
