Miami – The Sun Worshippers' Destination of 2010

July 9, 2010 - PRLog -- It is the fourth largest urban area in the United States behind New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago.  Miami is known as the Gateway to the Americas, due to it being the most southern part of America and it's ties to southern continent.

The weather of Miami is hot; sunshine all year round!  It’s classified as a tropical monsoon climate city, the type of climate you would usually find in Asia and Africa.  The average temperature is above 18oC. Usually summers are hot and humid while winters are warm and dry.

Miami is a great place to soak up the sun and obviously THE place to do so is at the beach.  The beaches of Miami are legendary; Miami Beach is well known and has often been used as a backdrop for over 150 films and TV shows.   South Beach is one of the popular parts of the beach.  Coined as So-Be or The Beach, South Beach use to be a considered an unattractive and unsafe area. Funnily enough it was the television show Miami Vice that made the beach popular and a rich commercialised area.  

Nowadays you can see rows of nightclubs, restaurants, boutiques and hotels.  South Beach is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. For those lacking inhibition, quite a few of the beaches allow women to go topless, and if you feel you desire to get an all-over body then the north end of Haulover Beach is the answer. No tan lines there.

One of the perks of South Beach is the fact that after going for a swim in the day, you can later on go across the street and hit the nightclubs at night.  Speaking of nightlife, Miami has been a social hotbed for many years.  The thing about the clubs and bars is that each of them is competing against each other and each tries get ahead one another, as a result they're pretty awesome!!

The port of Miami is aptly nicknamed the Cruise Capital of the World this is down to the many cruises that arrive and leave at the port.  Four million pass through the port every year, Eight cruise lines have Miami listed as their home port, ranked eighth among leading seaports in the world and is one of the few ports that deals with cruise ships and containerized cargo backed by the fact that it is the largest and busiest port in the world.

Adrienne Arsht Centre for Performing Arts is a newly developed arts centre in Miami.  It is the second largest in the United Stated and is the third largest performing arts centre.  Here music fans can see the Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and New World Symphony.

Miami is also a fashion hotspot as it is considered one of the new fashion capitals of the world.  Here you find top modelling agencies and many fashion boutiques.  The city also holds a few annual fashion shows which garner attention from media from all over the world.

Miami has two major outlet malls, where a lot of products are reduced to irresistible prices.  But more interesting is the shops situated around the beaches.  You might as well call them markets as you can find items there that you might never see anywhere else.  Also at open stalled places you can sometime haggle with the stall holder and get a cheaper price.

In Miami you will hear exotic music from various countries.  Here you can hear music ranging from Reggae, Soca, Kompa, Zouk, Calypso and even Steel Pan.  This will be whether you’re lazing around the beach or dancing in the clubs Miami is a city full of tempo.  Miami is a destination that will fulfil all of your desires.  The city has a lot to offer; it is a modern city with it’s a lot of personality.
