AITP Supports Unemployed IT Professionals with Special Membership Offer

AITP Supports the IT Profession During Economic Downturn - Special Membership for Unemployed IT Professionals

With the economy in turmoil and numerous layoffs occurring throughout Enterprise IT organizations, the Association of Information Technology Professionals (“AITP”),  a worldwide society of IT professionals, announces its offering of a one-time special  membership for unemployed IT professionals.

In its support of the IT profession, AITP recognizes the help unemployed IT professionals may need to stay connected with the industry, learn new skill sets, and advance their careers.  By becoming a member of AITP, unemployed IT professionals will have access to multiple resources they need in their job search.

“Being part of a professional society is extremely important for your career”, said Beth Pirrie, President of the Association, “but when you are unemployed, it is critical so you stay up to date and connected with your peers for new job opportunities”.

The AITP membership initiative is a limited-time membership pricing for unemployed IT professionals.  Commencing June 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, AITP is offering a reduction of its national dues from $105 to $35 to those persons who are unemployed. The Unemployed discount does not apply to local chapter or region dues.

To enroll as an Unemployed Member, please email memberservices@aitp.org or call AITP Headquarters at 800-224-9371 to verify eligibility and receive instructions for enrolling.  Individuals will be required to complete an application and once approved, will receive a notification with their membership ID.

This Special Unemployed Membership is open to all new or renewing professional members; however, no refunds will be granted for existing unemployed AITP members. It is an independent program that may not be combined with other AITP Membership promotions or other AITP special incentives.
