July 7, 2010 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, NC–  As the recession drags on, employers continue to be highly selective in their student hiring efforts and are being forced to cut back on costs for university recruiting.  31Projects announced today their online MBA & graduate student recruiting platform, which helps organizations make smarter recruiting decisions by connecting them with top students through business-related projects and competitions.   The 31Projects platform is the first of its kind enabling companies and nonprofits to post projects and “try out” top MBA & graduate students through short-term assignments similar to mini internships, resulting in a more transparent and effective recruiting process.  Even organizations with no immediate student recruiting needs can utilize the platform to gain affordable, high-quality assistance on their business challenges as well as fresh perspectives and new ideas from the students.

“The projects and competitions are win-win situations for both organizations and students, and can be used by employers to create a highly effective pipeline of top student talent into their organization,” explains Founder & CEO Jon Reifschneider.  Reifschneider himself is a recent MBA graduate who decided to forgo attractive post-MBA job opportunities to found the company with the mission of fostering closer collaboration between students and organizations.  “The current university recruiting system is largely dominated by a handful of brand-name employers who invest heavily in maintaining prominent on-campus presences.  Our vision is to provide an open platform where all organizations, regardless of size or resources, can easily and effectively identify and recruit the talent they need to be globally competitive,” said Reifschneider.

Projects can span a wide range of business-related topics and can be conducted as one of two types: “Consult Projects,” freelance student consulting projects, or “Challenge Projects,” crowdsourcing style competitions.  The 31Projects platform is currently in a closed beta, and will open in August to organizations and top students from select universities.
