Business Leaders For Michigan CEO Doug Rothwell To Discuss ‘Turnaround Plan’ July 19

Rothwell’s talk will keynote the monthly Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber Legislative Forum, which will be held at a special early-morning time. The meeting will open for registration and a private speaker reception at 8 a.m.

July 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Doug Rothwell, president and chief executive officer of Business Leaders for Michigan, will be the featured speaker Monday, July 19, at a special early morning installment of the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber’s monthly Legislative Forum.
     Rothwell’s talk will center on the Michigan Turnaround Plan, an initiative launched by the statewide consortium of business leaders last September to help encourage the revitalization of the state economy.
     The Forum will be held at Crystal Gardens in Southgate at an earlier time than usual. Registration will open at 8 a.m.; breakfast and the program are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
     Business Leaders for Michigan was formed through the consolidation of efforts and resources by metro area executives affiliated with Detroit Renaissance as well as the top leaders from a broad cross section of major companies from throughout the state.
Upon forming they announced their turnaround plan as “a comprehensive strategy to transform Michigan’s economy.”
     Rothwell, who also headed Detroit Renaissance, previously served as executive director of worldwide real estate for General Motors. He also founded and served as president and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corp., served as chief of staff to the governor of Delaware and was an executive vice president for the nation’s second-largest credit card issuer.
     Cost to attend the SWCRC Forum is $15 a person. Advance registration is requested by calling the chamber office at (734) 284-6000.
